Tuesday Morning ProClass TBC

Skinner Releasing Technique is a pioneering approach to dance, movement and creative process that has evolved from the simple principle that when we are releasing physical tension we can move with greater freedom, power and articulation. Expect to work with guided poetic imagery, with movement studies supported by music and sound, and with hands on in pairs. We will also work with writing/drawing at the end of class.

Polly is a teacher, artist, gardener and dance activist. She has made performance and screendance works that have been shown in the UK and internationally to critical acclaim. A student at London Contemporary Dance School in the late 1980s, Polly spent her third year as a member of the postgraduate performance company. Her teaching has developed over a 25-year period and is influenced by studies in contact improvisation, instant composition and authentic movement techniques. She is a certified teacher of Skinner Releasing Technique, which underpins her approaches both to making art and to daily activities. Polly’s work focuses on process within artistic making and on ethical approaches to teaching and interaction, and is informed by slow movement. She is currently curious about at which point a practice or an activity becomes art.
