Claire will lead a technical yet playful class focused on using the whole body as a tool for communication. By combining simple exercises with the permission to filter in personal improvisation throughout, the hope is to cultivate individuality blended with expansive, grounded and dynamic movement. Culminating with a longer phrase to experience the exhilaration of performance, to appreciate the energy of those who share the space and to encourage the story telling capabilities of the human body.
Supported by Birmingham’s strong network of youth dance training, Claire was introduced to movement at the age of fifteen. She later graduated from London Contemporary Dance School with Postgraduate Diploma in Performance, having completed her BA (Hons) in Dance Theatre at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance.
Developing repertoire with award-winning companies Highly Sprung Performance and Summit Dance Theatre are both long-term commitments in her work. Claire has previously enjoyed performing with Bawren Tavaziva, Lea Anderson, James Wilton, Watkins Dance, Birmingham Opera Company, Balbir Singh, Tempered Body Dance Theatre and various West Midlands based artists.
Drawing on her performing experience in movement and theatre, Claire is passionate about crafting work with a message through characterisation, storytelling and play. Currently singing with Town Hall Gospel Choir, touring new production Fall Out to encourage conversation around mental health and enjoying the creative energy Birmingham has to offer.
