We at Birmingham Dance Network are looking to recruit a self-employed, part time administrator who can support BDN with the day to day running of the organisation.

 

Part Time Administrator

Hours: 4 hours per week (flexible)

Fee: £12.50/hour

Commencement date: November

Length of contract: Initially 6 months with option to extend on review.

 

 

BDN Background
Since its inception in 2013, Birmingham Dance Network (BDN) has played a significant role in developing and nurturing the city as a home of dance. We are an artist led organisation founded by local dance artists and run by Genevieve Say and Rebecca Randall who have been creating and managing events in the city to support a thriving, busy and successful professional dance community. Over the past 5 years BDN has tirelessly worked towards retaining professional dance artists in Birmingham and the wider region by creating high quality performance, training, discussion and networking opportunities. As an artist led organisation, BDN has a unique insight into the local ecology of the dance sector which means it can respond directly to the needs of its community and develop new ways of moving forward based on the network’s needs.

 

 Key Responsibilities include:

Receive and respond to emails enquiries

Organise and update online filing systems

Update organisation policies

Data entry

Attend meetings with the BDN directors and project managers

Assist the team on event days

Take down and circulate minutes for internal meetings and open meetings

Work alongside BDN team, including Directors, Project Managers and Marketing Manager

Keep a record of and manage your own time/ hours

Other reasonable and related duties to support BDN activity.

Answerable to BDN Directors/Project Managers as relevant.

 

The perfect person for this job will have:

Excellent organisational skills

Excellent time management

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Excellent computer literacy and IT skills including confident working with word documents, spreadsheets and PDFs.

Excellent interpersonal skills

Excellent attention to detail.

Access to own computer and internet connection

Able to work from home and attend meetings in variety of central Birmingham locations, including coffee shops.

 

It would be useful if you also have:

Relevant previous experience in similar role.

Previous experience of working for an arts organisation

Knowledge of the arts sector.

Strong interest in contemporary dance, performing arts and live art.

Driving license and car
