After our successful pilot of ChoreoMatch in 2016, we are pleased to announce that ChoreoMatch returns, this time bigger, better and in a new space!
An exciting extension of BDN’s Introducing… platform, ChoreoMatch is about giving dancers and choreographers the chance to play and experiment with an untested idea and meet new collaborators in the West Midlands. ChoreoMatch is supported by DanceXchange and Vivid Projects.
We are looking for a choreographer and up to three dancers to spend 10 days based at Vivid Projects, researching a new idea. The ChoreoMatch company will present an extract of their process at Introducing… at Vivid Projects on Saturday 9th June 2018. Vivid Projects is a gallery space within Minerva Works, a warehouse complex in Digbeth, Birmingham. There is also potential for work to be created for the courtyard space outside the venue, next to the canal. http://www.vividprojects.org.uk
Whether you are an experienced choreographer who wants to try something new, or an early career choreographer looking for a way to make new work, this is the commission for you. We are interested in hearing from people at all stages of their choreographic career.
The choreographer will bring the idea they want to research and will be responsible for leading the process. The dancers’ role will be to dive into the choreographer’s process, assist them in their research, challenge them where necessary and work together to bring their ideas to life. BDN will bring the team together from the applications they receive. The dancers and choreographers may never have met before… It’s a bit like internet dating*.
*It’s nothing like internet dating…
You can apply as both a choreographer and a dancer if you are interested in both roles. This is a paid research project and fees are based on ITC/ Equity minimum rates.
Deadline for applications is 9AM Friday 23rd March 2018
