Could you bring new perspectives and skills, challenge our thinking and help shape our future?

Birmingham Dance Network is the go-to support network for independent dance artists, choreographers and teachers who live and work in and around the UK’s second city. BDN is brought to you by a team of independent dance artists based in Birmingham. Our collective aim is to create opportunities to easily discover and connect with others, host professional development and training events and create performance opportunities for new work.

We are setting up an advisory group of five people with whom we can have honest conversations based on friendly collaboration, shared values and a commitment to dance as a force for change. Members of the group will bring new perspectives and skills, challenge our thinking and help shape our future. They will be committed to equality, diversity and inclusion. The advisory group will act as a sounding board for ideas about programme direction and organisational development and will help grow our networks and impact.

We expect most members of the group will be based in the West Midlands. We are looking for creative freelancers and salaried employees to form the advisory group. Freelancers will be paid £100 per meeting and can claim a contribution towards childcare/access costs.

Qualities and Skills we are looking for:

  • individuals from communities and backgrounds underrepresented in the arts
  • people with experience of working with a variety of communities
  • people with experience of finance in the arts and arts management
  • people with experience of business and strategic development
