Rolling Out The Red Carpet was a direct response to the ongoing impact of COVID-19 around isolation and loneliness.
Rolling Out The Red Carpet was a direct response to the ongoing impact of COVID-19 around isolation and loneliness.
The project focused on ensuring residents of Highgate experiencing loneliness or isolation felt special, noticed and valued.
We rolled out the red carpet (literally) around the area in numerous venues, bringing socially distant live performances from local artists and creating a joyful environment to celebrate every individual. Rolling Out The Red Carpet improved mental wellbeing, reduced isolation and loneliness and celebrated Highgate, its people and Birmingham based performers.
Artists featured included:
- Back2Back (dance group)
- Peter Chand (storyteller)
- Rebecca Jayne (tap dancer)
- Colin Mills (singer)
- Melika Queely (violinist)
- Sereno (musicians)
…who performed at various local venues including Anawim, Balsall Heath Library, Stanhope Wellbeing Hub and The Friends Institute.
Rolling Out The Red Carpet was funded by Birmingham City Council and co-delivered by BDN associates Curiosity Productions.
