Avatâra offers a dynamic contemporary ballet class for today’s dancer with emphasis on alignment, musicality, movement qualities and the epaulement (the ability to move in spiral motion), set to a score of world music (from pop and jazz to bossa nova). It is a highly physical class for freelance dance artists, that enjoy approaching ballet with a 21st-century mind.

This programme prioritises early career artists and global majority artists as part of our commitment to More Than A Moment. If we do not fill the spaces available, we will accept registrations from all artists.

‘Cultivate’ responds to localised climate research about soil health focusing on soil toxic inheritance, farming practices and soil preservation

We will look at basic editing tricks to help improve your showreel, watch and review example showreels together as critical friends and hear tips from renowned choreographers on what works best for them, all whilst developing new showreels for each participant.

The class lightly borrows from the fundamental patterns of  Cunningham technique, supported by a sensorial approach inspired by Fasciatherapy. We try to establish our sense of verticality without compromising the notion of movement.

Led by producer Mark Mallabone, this workshop you will learn about the differing roles of a producer, how to engage, collaborate and work effectively so that you can get the most out of the working relationship.

My classes offer guided and multi-attentional enquiry based in principles from Skinner Releasing Technique, Contact Improvisation, Walk of Life Training and Other somatically informed dancing experiences. With an ongoing performing practice of some 20 years, I work intuitively and precisely, encouraging each person toward full dancing with individual curiosity and appetite for movement being foregrounded as well as real and deep listening toward working with others and dancing together.
