A dynamic contemporary ballet class for today’s dancer with emphasis on alignment, musicality and movement qualities.

Katie’s class is full-bodied and dynamic with an emphasis on moving expansively and freely through the space. Expect a joy-filled class with a mixture of improvisation and set material to get you feeling warm both outside and in.

Fun and energetic, this class will focus on centering the mind and then building up the body. Exploring improv, floor work, and contact then finishing with a phrase, this class is designed to gear you up for the day whilst accompanied by funk, soul, and jazz tracks to keep you smiling!

Skinner Releasing Technique (SRT) is a dance technique that is characterised by its use of imagery, tactile studies and embodied dancing. It differs from other dance techniques in that it fuses improvisational approaches, image and alignment without the use of set steps. In SRT we are unravelling layers of holding and letting go of preconceptions of who we are in our dancing, and in our very selves, and perhaps therefore in our approach to our creativity.

Drawing on her training and performance background in jazz and classical ballet, Rachel will lead a fast-paced contemporary jazz class focusing on exercises to help us reconnect with and challenge our technique, concluding with a short choreographed phrase that will enable clarity of line within your own style.

Avatâra offers a dynamic contemporary ballet class for today’s dancer with emphasis on alignment, musicality, movement qualities and the epaulement (the ability to move in spiral motion), set to a score of world music (from pop and jazz to bossa nova). It is a highly physical class for freelance dance artists, that enjoy approaching ballet with a 21st-century mind.

Drawing from their wide scope of dance experience, co-founders Emmanuelle Lê Phan and Elon Höglund create conceptual hip–hop with a contemporary twist, while intermingling organic influences from earthly creatures.

Out Innerspace Dance Theatre & Film Society is devoted to creating exciting and integral contemporary dance works. Determined to be innovative yet accessible, they push beyond traditional aesthetics and forms with unreserved ingenuity. Through research and experimentation Out Innerspace celebrates the importance of challenging the preconceptions of what can be expected, experienced and expounded in contemporary dance.

Nii creates original choreography that blends tradition with current global dance styles, he currently also teaches African dance on the Diverse Dances Styles BA degree course (IRIE! dance theatre).
